The "Southern Escape" Course
A traveling course, in the Southern Alps if possible, or wherever the flying conditions are best.

A "LES GRANDS ESPACES" trip in partnership with the travel agency "Natures du Monde"
2026 dates: Friday 2 to Sunday 4 September!
Want to discover incredible new paragliding sites while continuing to progress, guided by experienced instructors? This course is for you! The flying sites of the Southern Alps await, with their autumn conditions, often mild but still thermic at this time of year. As with all our paragliding courses, the content will be adapted as closely as possible to each pilot based on their level and expectations. Three days of traveling around the South of France in a great atmosphere: soaring flights, quick sled runs, or thermal flights, preferably in the Southern Alps.
The destination will be chosen freely by the instructors to be in the best possible spot to fly and enjoy the conditions.
If the weather in the South is very unfavorable, the course may take place in another region of France (with a maximum limit of 6 hours’ drive to reach the chosen location).
This course is aimed at pilots with at least an Independent level in calm conditions (Initial Certificate or equivalent level). Thermal or cross country level pilots are also welcome.

Program
Course schedule:
Day J-1:
Final weather check to confirm the flying area, then we contact all pilots
to give the meeting time for the following morning.
Day 1:
Departure from the Les Grands Espaces school between 4:30am and 8:30am, depending on the distance to travel to reach the course location.
Arrival at the flying site during the day, allowing time for the first flights. It may be possible to fly at several sites on the same day, depending on weather conditions, perhaps with a site chosen along the way to break up the drive.
At the end of the day we’ll head to the chosen accommodation: debrief, dinner, and preparation for the next day.
Day 2:
Time for a new day of the course. The idea is to make the most of the available flying sites depending on the aerological conditions. After a good breakfast and a briefing (with a daily individualized program set up for each pilot), we’ll head out to discover the best spots. We’ll be self sufficient with our minibus and will generally head out for the full day. Lunch will be a picnic out on the field. If conditions require it, we’ll change location to find the best place to continue the course and fly in the best possible conditions.
Day 3:
Similar to the previous days, flights during the day, either on site or along the drive back to Talloires, depending on weather conditions.
Return to our school expected between 6pm and 11pm.

Practical Info
On-site organization:
For this course, we’ll have a 9 seat minibus available, driven by our instructors. A second vehicle will be arranged if there are more than 7 participants (forming a second group with the same program). In that case, there will be 4 qualified instructors. These minibuses will take us to the various flying sites, restaurants, and accommodation throughout the course. To best adapt to each pilot’s level and expectations, the two minibuses may follow a slightly different schedule and choice of flying locations. We’ll then all meet up again to spend the evening and night together.
Accommodation will take the form of a shared rental (gite, small guesthouse, or mobile home at a campsite) for a more convivial experience, giving us a common living space for briefings and for sharing time before and after our flights over a coffee, tea, or drink!
For accommodation, we’ll have shared rooms. In the morning, we’ll have breakfast together at the accommodation. For lunch, we’ll either buy groceries (based on a shared kitty not included in the course price) or make use of a restaurant on site depending on our flying location (to be paid individually on site). Dinners will be free choice (and not included) so everyone can choose and also discover local specialities. For preparing breakfasts and picnic lunches, our instructors will appreciate a helping hand 🙂
