Piloting & SIV Course
The piloting course (or SIV course) lets you practice flight incident maneuvers or advanced piloting techniques in a setting designed for safety.

This setting is an area above Lake Annecy with a boat and a safety vest. This setup makes it safe to land if the pilot ends up on the ground under their reserve parachute.

Prerequisites
Progression is adapted to each person’s level and expectations. For your safety, certain piloting skills will need to be validated before moving on to some maneuvers. The instructor reserves the right not to cover certain maneuvers with a pilot if they feel their skills aren’t yet sufficient.
The SIV course can be approached at very different levels. However, for organizational reasons, you need to be independent in paragliding for takeoff, both reverse and forward launch, as well as for landing. The Initial Pilot Certificate level is required.
Program
The SIV / Piloting course takes place over 2 or 3 days. Takeoffs happen at La Forclaz, and the landing area is on the edge of the Doussard nature reserve. Here are examples of maneuvers we can cover during this course (depending on each person’s level):
- Pitch and roll.
- Dynamic turns.
- 360 descent.
- Frontal and asymmetric collapses and their consequences (autorotation).
- Wingovers and big wingovers.
- Avoidance maneuvers.
- B-line stalls.
- Full stalls and backfly.
- Spirals.
- The SAT.
